GolfTips Working Again

I received a few emails today saying that my GolfTips widget was broken. It turns out I was having a server issue that I didn’t even know about (until I received the emails). Everything should be back up and running again. Please let me know if this isn’t the case and I’ll look into the problem further.

I’ve been slacking on development, but plan on releasing an update in the coming weeks so please stay tuned!

    Many thanks for producing the Golf Tips widget, but I cannot get it to work on my PC. It continues to return a message of an error when it tries to load the tip.

    Gary,

    Thanks for the feedback on the widget. Can you verify that you’re not behind a firewall that blocks requests to non-standard internet ports? Right now the tips are loaded from port 8080 and I’m assuming that’s what your problem is.

    Thanks for the email. I guess I need to do a better job of monitoring the tip feed because it went down and I didn’t even realize it. My GolfTips widget was working locally and I hadn’t tried loading a new one. When I did I received the error you mentioned. At any rate I’ve got everything back up and running again.

    I live by Golf Tips! Handicap has dropped 10 points since Golf Tips was working, but now it is not again. Can you please check your tip feed?

    Give GolfTips a try again. The server was hung so I had to restart it. It should be working now.

    I keep getting an error on the Golf Widget. The error states “Error Loading Data”. The last update was a quote from Hank Haney, which i believe is from a few days ago.

    Everyone, I’m terribly sorry for the broken widget but the provider of data for GolfTips has changed their page. If you have any on-line sources that have GREAT tips send me a link (dennisbaldwin at gmail dot com) and I’ll try and get it integrated with the widget! Thanks, Dennis.
