Futbol in Mogote
Jul 13
I took a tremendous amount of photos when in Tegucigalpa of the Mogote kids playing futbol. The Hope for Honduras mission recently created a league for the kids and we were honored to see the pre-game ceremony on Saturday.
Although these kids have next to nothing you would never be able to tell that from these photos. If you put a ball on their feet it’s like all problems go away and it becomes all about the game. They don’t have soccer shoes and the field they play on is primarily dirt with rocks and bumps.
The Hope for Honduras mission supplies them with uniforms, player cards, referees, and everything to provide the ultimate futbol experience. I was blessed to have the opportunity to play a good amount of ball with the kids. It’s incredible how you can speak very little of the language, but get on the field with them and feel right at home. Futbol is truly an international sport.
Below is a photo of me with one of the teams and the second photo is the Nueva Espana team of Mogote. I have about 50 photos, but am only posting a couple here. All of the photos will ultimately live on the Hope for Honduras website and I’ll post a link when they’re available.
